Kennedy Gondwe
Centers for Apologetics Research – Uganda
Kennedy is a fellow worker of Paul Carden, the Executive Director of CFAR. His faithful service to the churches in Central Africa has opened the door to several opportunities to help churches confront the growing number and influence of cults in that area of the world. He recently sent us this update from Zambia.
It’s been a difficult month with everything going slow as the Cholera crisis hit our country hard. Thank you for praying, the crisis is slowly ending now. We have fewer new infections and fewer people dying from the pandemic. Schools are back to operating normally as before. Next month is thus a hectic month for me as I embark on teaching in Zambia’s eastern and western provinces. I am expected to cover a distance of not less than 1400 miles on the road. From the 3rd through the 12th of March, I will be at Covenant Reformed Theological College in Petauke teaching Christian Apologetics. Once again, these are pastors without theological education who preach to hundreds and thousands in their villages. Covenant College opened these doors for me and have been teaching there for four years now. Please pray for these saints in Christ as we address the syncretism in the Church as aided by the African Traditional Religion. This is a hard surface to break since African Traditional Religion offers the grids through which our people define reality. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will soften their hearts.
After the eastern Province, from 18th-25th, I will be in Mongu, the western province of Zambia. This is another difficult place to visit. It has been neglected for many years. It’s less developed with bad health services and roads too. The Lord calls us to such people. It’s a politically volatile place especially now that they have been calling for an independent nation from Zambia. It’s the ancient Barotseland. They regard it as a country on its own. What makes this place difficult again is the culture around here. Unless one speaks their language Lozi, acceptance is difficult. This is where tribalism shows its ugly face a lot worse sometimes than racism. Please pray also that the Lord will intervene. This is His world and these two need to hear the gospel. Please pray. God’s people pray. This is an opportunity to partner with me in prayer. Our Lord hears us when we pray (Psalm 55:16-17), and finally, the Lord promises to answer us when we pray, (Jeremiah 33:3).
Please pray for Kennedy as he travels the rough roads of Zambia, and for safety as he enters some dangerous areas of the country. Also, pray for wisdom and boldness as he stands firm against the local religions and cults that only want to steer people away from the grace offered by Christ.
