Ethnos 360
Greg and Laura spent 18 years church planting among the Waxe People Group of Papua New Guinea,. Today, the villages there have functioning and flourishing churches led by local leaders who are using the translation in their own language. Greg continues to serve as a translation consultant for E-360, while Laura continues to develop literacy materials for new readers.Having completed a check of Romans and Ephesians for a translator in Guinea, West Africa, this week Greg started checking for three translators in Paraguay.
The checks of four epistles went very well, and today we should finish up the Book of Joshua. The challenge in this book is all the detail in the division of the Promised Land in Joshua 13-22—the lands given to each tribe, the cities of refuge, the cities given to the Levites—it’s like taking a tour of the Holy Land. Lots of directionals and names of cities, smaller towns, mountains, valleys, rivers, springs, places where this happened and that happened! What a challenge for the translator, but she has done an excellent job. Next week we’ll begin to check 1 Samuel 1-10 and Malachi for a translator from a neighboring language group. It’s exciting to know that this Scripture will soon be in the hands of believers in two language groups in remote Paraguay. Please pray that it would be a blessing to the believers as they learn more of who God is and what He has given and done for His people.
