Urgent Request: Hope Gardens Family Center, an extension of the URM near Sylmar and temporary home to 250 women, children, babies and seniors, has been completely evacuated due to the threat of encroaching fires. As of now the buildings still stand, and all guests are safe, but they have been moved to the URM gymnasium or to nearby downtown LA hotels. Seniors were forced to evacuate without their medication, eyeglasses or extra clothes, and the women and children are in need of basics such as baby wipes, diapers and bottles. Beyond the material, and in the midst of the Christmas season, prayer is needed for the emotional condition of the guests and the protection of the facilities.
