Doug and Nissy Cannon
WORLD VENTURE – EAST ASIA
We are happy to introduce the Cannons as our newest partners as we reach the world with the Gospel. They have two daughters, Amber (3 ½) and Alisha (1 ½). They work in East Asia among a large language group, first opened up by World Venture over 70 years ago, but due to political upheaval the early missionaries were forced to leave. Doug was able to return to the area when relations warmed up, and there met and married Nissy. Tensions in this area of the world have heightened causing house churches to go underground, but since Nissy is a citizen they should be able to return to this people group once Covid restrictions are lifted. Doug writes:
“We’re praying that the vision of a house church in every village remains strong among our local coworkers. We also hope others will come and join in the work. Those who do come, soon find they have more acquaintances and opportunities to share Christ than they have time for. This people group is waiting, but since it is a relatively tight time, Christian workers need to be careful and wise in their work if they hope to remain.
They are seeing many friends, neighbors and students among this people group coming to Christ. They have seen many home fellowship groups formed, are able to encourage local pastors and help teach and train local workers who are going into the ministry. The Cannons are presently visiting family in the US and looking forward to travel resuming soon so they can return to the field.”
