Last week in one of our Church Planting Essentials LiveStream Webinars with leaders in India, one of our church planters shared an incredible story of the New Life God is bringing.
One week before the COVID lockdown began, Pahal (not the leader’s real name), began serving people in a village eight kilometers from his home. This community has a population of 9,000 people, but only 200 of them were Christians. Realizing that many of the people in this village, especially the children, were facing malnutrition, Pahal distributed groceries to them as an act of love.
As Pahal served these people, God helped Pahal discover a people who were very open to the message of the Gospel. He shared the life-changing message of Jesus with this particular family and on March 12 a new church was born! Over the past three months, Pahal has continued to meet daily with this group, discipling digitally and face-to-face. Now, 25 people have become followers of Christ through this new church, and last Sunday they gathered in this host home to worship the Lord.
God has given Pahal a vision of planting 20 churches in this community. This new house church that God birthed during a worldwide pandemic has now outgrown the home they are meeting in and they are beginning to look for a hall in which to meet.
God continues to work despite the worldwide epidemic, and stories like Pahal’s prove that the gospel penetrates hearts that God has prepared as only He can. Pray this new body grows in the Lord and in numbers, and that it will find a hall large enough for its future growth.
